Our Accomplishments


For more than twenty years, CAG has played a significant role in transforming the lives of more than 4000 persons, most of whom have returned to the community as productive citizens. These life-changing experiences have contributed to more families being re-united and increased productivity among the residents of the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

CAG's innovative and unique programming incorporates the fundamental components of living life "fully" while working on self improvement and has contributed to the huge successes among its client population.


Some of CAG's major accomplishments include the following:

1989 Convened city-wide family day "Celebration of Love" to promote increased awareness of drug abuse in the family - 500 parents/children, keynoted by news anchor Jim Vance
1992 Received first annual grant ($65,000) from DC Government to provide recreational/cultural enrichment services to low-income youth of Capitol Hill
1996 Received first grant ($165,000) from Community Partnership for Prevention of Homelessness to provide shelter and social services for homeless adults Convened first graduation of clients who successfully completed CAG drug treatment program
1998 Purchased apartment building to house and treat homeless addicted men
1999 Purchased apartment building to house and treat homeless addicted women Created Alumni Association of successful graduates resulting in a growing resource network and extended recovery family that sponsors social/recreational activities for CAG clients, their families and the community
2000 Purchased 36-unit apartment complex and used as affordable housing for graduates of CAG residential drug treatment programs.
2003 Established DC's first residential family re-unification program for addicted mothers and their children, in partnership with DC's Family Treatment Court
2013 Celebrating organizations 25th year anniversary
